Available Business Assistance Services
The Morgantown Area Economic Partnership (MAP)
wants to make sure that existing businesses are satisfied doing
business here, and assist existing and prospective businesses in
using available business assistance services. Some of the many services
that MAP and the West Virginia Development
Office provide to local businesses are discussed below.
Financing
MAP helps growing companies secure capital
financing for building expansions or new construction through the
WV Economic Development Authority. For small businesses, MAP's "microloan" program
can provide direct loans up to $35,000 to finance their startup and expansion.
Also, MAP serves as an information clearinghouse on other state and federal business loan programs.
Employee Recruitment
MAP helps employers recruit skilled employees
through the West Virginia Job Service and WVU's Career Services
Center.
Employee Training
MAP will help qualifying existing and new
businesses secure state grants for employee training programs.
Site and Building Inventory
This office maintains an inventory of larger
commercial and industrial buildings and sites. Expanding or prospective
businesses can secure this information by calling Don Reinke at
304.296.6684.
Also, the WV Development
Office website maintains an interactive inventory of larger
commercial and industrial parks, sites, and buildings available
throughout the state, including those available in Monongalia County.
International Trade
MAP can arrange for participation
in international trade shows, and other assistance to local companies
that are already exporting, or considering exporting, to international
markets.
Community and Economic Data
MAP publishes "A Brief Community and Economic Profile
for Morgantown and Monongalia County." MAP also maintains up-to-date economic
and demographic information on the Morgantown MSA, the State of West
Virginia, and the United States.
Other Assistance
MAP also helps business secure assistance
in such areas as small and minority business development, counseling
through the Small Business Development Center and the Business Information
Center, technology consulting services through WVU's Industrial
Extension Service, and federal government procurement assistance
through the Procurement Technical Assistance Center.
For information on any or all of the above
programs, contact Don Reinke,
President of MAP, at info@morgantown.org
